The Spanish men’s team has won an important test against Germany in Valencia, Spain. The VI Trofeo Ciudad de Valencia consisted of a double match against gold and silver medals teams in the last Olympic Games: Germany and Spain.

The first match, played on 2 February, ended in a draw (2-2). Philip Witte gave the advantage to Germany with a PC but Albert Sala and Pau Quemada (both with PC) put the 2-1 lead for Spain before Martin Haene scored the last goal in another PC.

If the first match was a tied fight between both teams, the second one, played on 4 February, Spain was much better and beat World and Olympic Champions with Roc Oliva and Pol Amat goals. Captain Moritz Furste scored in a PC the German goal.

The end of Valencia camp training served as well to coach Daniel Martín to choose the 18 players who will take part in the Hero Honda FIH World Cup. The Spanish team is a mixture of youth and experienced players. Striker Santi Freixa will miss the Hero Honda World Cup because he is still recovering from an injury suffered in July and there is one player who will play his first international competition: Bosco Pérez-Pla.
