The Spanish Hockey Federation (RFEH) celebrated the 50th anniversary of the first Olympic medal won by a Spanish hockey team: the bronze medal of the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome.

Most of the members of the team were present at the celebration that took place at the RC Polo of Barcelona and was organized by the RFEH. The celebration consisted of a lunch and the Spanish Hockey President Santi Deó expressed the importance of that bronze medal for the Spanish Hockey and for the Spanish Sport in general. The hockey bronze was the only medal won by Spain at the 1960 Olympic Games.

After the Rome medal, the Spanish men’s team won three more medals: silver in Moscow 1980, silver in Atlanta 1996 and silver in Beijing 2008. The Spanish women’s team won the gold medal at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona.
