Ireland men’s coach David Passmore has announced his squad for two matches against France to be played in Lille on 2 and 3 July.

“After a pleasing trip to Aberdeen we are looking forward to these testing matches against a fast improving French team”,” Passmore said.

France are ranked 18th in the world which is five places ahead of Ireland, however Passmore is confident with his young side.

”'We have added some of the younger players in the squad such as Eugene Magee and Phelie Maguire as a chance for them to stake a claim for a place in the squad moving forward.”

“Both impressed in play against Italy but France will offer a sterner test. The lads have been working exceptionally hard over the past few weeks and fatigue will be an issue in Lille. I am keen to see who is able to cope with the levels of physical and mental tiredness during these matches”
