The Hockeyroos have suffered their first defeat at the hands of Argentina during game four of the five test series played in Mendoza, Argentina (0-2).
Despite the loss, the Hockeyroos have already claimed the series, having won the first three matches.
Determined to make amends, Argentina started the match well, scoring two goals in the first 11 minutes to set up a commanding lead.
The Hockeyroos steadied after half time, however the damage was already done as the Hockeyroos were unable to force their way back into the game.
“Argentina punished us for some sloppy defensive work in the first minutes of the game. Australia never recovered and Argentina’s superior pace and sharper skills proved decisive as they applied continued pressure to a tiring and sluggish Aussie team,” said Hockeyroos coach Frank Murray.
