The Hockeyroos have gained revenge over Argentina since their Champions Trophy final defeat earlier this year, holding on for a 1-0 and 3-2 victory in the first two matches in a series in Mendoza, Argentina.
Match 1: Argentina-Australia 0:1 (0:0)
Playing in front of a vocal Argentinean crowd, the young Hockeyroos refused to be intimidated against their highly fancied rivals to cause an upset in game one of a five test series.
After a goalless first half, it was captain Madonna Blyth who eventually broke the deadlock, scoring in the 42nd minute to hand the Hockeyroos the lead.
In a sign of the Hockeyroos potential, their defence held firm throughout the match, denying the home team scoring opportunities to claim the victory.
Match 2: Argentina-Australia 2:3 (0:0)
The Hockeyroos have recorded their second straight victory over Argentina, coming from two goals down to win the second match of a five test series in Mendoza, Argentina.
After a goalless first half the Hockeyroos conceded two early goals in the opening stages after half time.
However the young Hockeyroos squad remained focused, scoring three second half goals via Kate Hollywood, Madonna Blyth and Ashleigh Nelson to record a memorable victory against one of the world’s strongest nations.
