Teun de Nooijer became the most capped Dutch international player on Saturday, when he played for the 402nd time for Netherlands. De Nooijer lead his team to a 9-0 victory over Poland at the EuroHockey Nations Championships in Amstelveen, Netherlands.
De Nooijer surpassed Jeroen Delmee, who retired after the 2008 Olympic Games. The former WorldHockey player of the Year made his international debut in a friendly against New Zealand (5-0) on 4 June 1994.
In his career, De Nooijer won two Olympic Gold Medals, one World Championship, six Champions Trophies and one European Championship. He was crowned three times as WorldHockey Player of the Year.
In his 402nd international match for Netherlands, De Nooijer scored his 200th international goal for the Dutch team. Only Floris Jan Bovenlander (215) and Paul Litjens (268) scored more than De Nooijer.
