In less than 200 days, the Hero Honda FIH World Cup 2010 will kick off in New Delhi, India when the 12 best men’s hockey teams will compete from 28 February-13 March for the ultimate title: the World Champion.

Major progress has been made lately and over the past weeks, different FIH officials and staff involved in the Hero Honda FIH World Cup have seen the progress with their own eyes. FIH President Leandro Negre was in New Delhi on the occasion of the announcement of title sponsor Hero Honda at the end of July. Last week, FIH Events Director Hans-Jochen Erb made a visit to meet all parties involved and he reported back that everything is well on track. More visits are scheduled for the near future.

Furthermore the FIH is monitoring carefully the progress of Hockey India. The FIH will assist wherever it can and acknowledge that restructuring a national association wherever in the world requires elaboration. To assist Hockey India in taking the next steps, the process of forming single entities (men and women) at state level as well as of the election process, the FIH has appointed Vice-President Tony von Ondarza as observer. He will work in conjunction all the stakeholders involved.
