Sixteen-year-old Emma Davey from Billericay in Essex has been crowned England Hockey Young Umpire of the Year.

Emma who is currently working towards her Level 2 Umpire Award, has exceptional talent and someone who is admired and respected by all of her young umpire colleagues.

England Hockey sends congratulations and best wishes to Emma and we look forward to supporting her in her hockey umpiring career.  Emma has now been promoted to the National Young Umpire Promising List and will be invited to participate in National Programme Tournaments and Events in the coming season.

Also, England Hockey celebrated the 10th anniversary of the National Young Umpire Challenge in Nottingham in May. For the first time, a team of talented young umpire coaches worked alongside the umpires – all were graduates of the Challenge in previous years and have since progressed their umpiring to higher levels. This new initiative has been welcomed by all as a compliment to the already highly regarded national development programme for young umpires.
