The Junior Black Sticks Women’s hockey team to play in August’s U21 World Cup in Boston, USA has been named. The team includes eight players who were also named recently in the senior Black Sticks trial squad for trials in May, the most notable being Olympian Gemma Flynn.

New Zealand’s place in the World Cup was in serious doubt due to a lack of funding, however with their campaign now fully funded by the players and their families – they are confirmed starters. They will depart for Boston at the end of July and return on 17 August.

The Junior Black Sticks Women will face some tough competition at the World Cup having drawn China, the Netherlands and Spain in Pool C of the tournament.

Non traveling reserves: Ali Perry, Pippa Hayward, Bridgette Allen, Natasha Fitzsimons, Merania Hibbard, Charlotte Edwards, Nicole Van Oosterom, Casey Haumaha.

Not Available for Selection: Jasmin McQuinn, Kelsey Dunn, Charlotte Harrison, Samantha Harrison.
