Hockey Australia is seeking to appoint a high calibre leader to the position of Chief Executive.  Hockey Australia exists to encourage, promote, develop and administer hockey at all levels in order to maintain Australian hockey as a world leader and a game for everyone.

Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive is responsible for the vision to “excite and inspire” all generations in the pursuit of excellence with respect to the sport of hockey as well as directing the policies, operations and development of the sport in Australia.

The Chief Executive of Hockey Australia will be responsible for the implementation of the Strategic Plan of Hockey Australia and ensure it:

  • Remains one of Australia’s leading sports administration bodies;
  • Attracts, engages and retains a broad range of corporate partners and sponsors;
  • Creates a customer focused workplace where people are recognised for their contribution, realise their potential and are inspired to achieve outstanding results;
  • Builds, lobbies and maintains relationships with external bodies, such as the Australian Sports Commission, the Australian Olympic Committee, the Federation of International Hockey and The Commonwealth Games Association with regard to ongoing and future funding;
  • Works seamlessly with the members of Hockey Australia to increase national commercial based arrangements.
  • Creates a structure and environment for the continued success of Australian teams in international hockey.

The essential attributes of the successful candidate include:

  • A well developed appreciation and knowledge of the sporting sector in Australia and internationally.
  • Sophisticated leadership and management skills gained from working in a complex organisational environment.
  • Experience in creating and leading the achievement of strategic objectives and operational plans.
  • Experience in leading major fundraising or sponsorship programs
  • A high level of passion, motivation and influencing skills that foster a cohesive team based approach.
  • Working to and reporting to a Board previously.

This key appointment is based in Melbourne and offers an attractive salary package commensurate with the role’s responsibilities.
