The Hockeyroos preparation for the 2008 Beijing Olympics has continued on a positive note, with the world number four team defeating Great Britain for the third match in a row (2-0).
A strong crowd of over 1700 witnessed the Hockeyroos claim victory during the third match of the five test series in Brisbane, with the remaining two matches of the series to be played in Toowoomba on Saturday and then the Gold Coast on Sunday.
The first half started as a very tight contest and despite both teams controlling the play equally, the Hockeyroos classy finish around goal again proved to be the difference in the match.
After several forward attempts the Hockeyroos eventually made their way onto the score board after a slick pass from Casey Eastham found Teneal Attard who after drawing several defenders registered Australia's first goal for the evening.
Both teams continued to press the goals in the first half however thanks to the tight work from home town hero Angie Lambert the Hockeyroos score sheet remained clean at half time.
The second half began at a fast pace, with Great Britain looking to equalize early after earning a penalty corner only minutes after half time.
However after the Hockeyroos defenders held firm, the ball was quickly moved to the other end allowing Hope Munro to put the Australians further in front after a clever trap outsmarted the goal keeper which resulted in a classy finish from the defender.
The Hockeyroos almost added to their goal tally on several occasions during the second half however the two goal margin proved to be enough for the victory with the team's attention now turning on the fourth match of the series this Saturday in Toowoomba.
