USA Women’s Pan American Cup Team

With its second place finish at the 2nd Pan American Cup, the U.S. women’s team earned its second straight silver medal, helped solidify its continental ranking and earned USA Field Hockey’s Team of the Year honor.

Quickly rebounding from a heartbreaking end to its Olympic quest just a month earlier at the Olympic Qualifying Tournament, the persevering U.S. women stormed to a first place finish in Pool B with a 3-0 record as they outscored their opponents, 18-1. The team then defeated rival Canada, 4-3, in the semifinals before losing to defending World Champion Argentina in the gold medal match, 3-0.

The silver medal finish maintained the USA’s spot in the continental standings while solidifying the team’s international top-11 ranking.
