Egypt shocked China on the opening day of the Four Nations Men Invitational Tournament in Lanzhou, China by achieving a 2-2 draw against the organizer. Hohamed Elsayed opened the score in the 5th minute and it took China until the 58th minute to draw. Egypt took the lead again in the 62nd minute, but China finally scored the 2-2 equalizer with five minutes to play.

In other first day action, Japan defeated USA 6-2. Ryuji Furusato and Kenichi Katayama both scored twice.
