The Canadian Men’s and Women’s National Teams will be stepping out on home turf when they play host to both respective Chilean National Teams in a five match test series in Vancouver from 24-30 May.

The matches will be instrumental for the teams as they continue preparation for the upcoming Pan American Games, being held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 13-29 July 2007. The winner of the Pan American Games competition will directly qualify for the 2008 Olympics Games in Beijing.

For the Canadian women, the test series will be the second time in just over a week that they have taken to the field against Chile. Having just completed participation in a Four Nation Test Series in Santiago, Chile involving 4 of the top Pan American Field Hockey nations. The Women played Chile twice in this tournament, winning the first game 1-0 and losing the second game 1-2. Both teams will prove to be formidable opponents in this series.

The Canadian men last met Chile in international competition during the semifinals of the 2004 Pan American Cup hosted in London, ON. A 4-2 win over the Chileans advanced the Canadians into the final and an overall 2nd place finish while their counterparts won the bronze – their strongest finish to date in an international event.

The AK Pro Canada test series will take place at the University of British Columbia’s Wright Field.
