FIH releases AtaHolding Champions Challenge schedule

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) recently released the match schedule for the AtaHolding Champions Challenge, women. This event will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan from 9 until 17 June 2007 and features the following six participants: Azerbaijan, China, England, Korea, New Zealand and USA.

The AtaHolding Champions Challenge, the first ever FIH major event in Azerbaijan, is an extremely important event for the six participating nations, as points for the WorldHockey World Ranking are at stake. Furthermore, the winner of the in Baku, Azerbaijan will be qualified for the Champions Trophy in 2008.

It is extremely hard to pick a favorite for this event, as all six participants have the chance to win the AtaHolding Champions Challenge. USA opens the event against Korea on Saturday 9 June, while New Zealand will meet England and China faces host Azerbaijan on the opening day.

Tournament favorite India will open the BDO Champions Challenge against New Zealand on Saturday 23 June 2007. Other matches on the opening day are Belgium-Japan and England Argentina.

The six teams will play a single round robin tournament with the first two ranked teams qualifying for the final on Sunday 17 June 2007
