Following a comprehensive interview process, England Hockey is pleased to announce the appointment of the following Centrally Contracted Coaches (CCC’s) in partnership with the Regional Hockey Associations. CCC’s will be responsible for the consistent delivery of performance hockey coaching.  Hockey is an Olympic sport and with 2012 on the horizon and a new strategy for the sport in place, this is a very exciting time to work with England Hockey and the Regional Associations.

Strict criteria has been applied to selection; the standard has been set to include quality of technical delivery and commitment to England Hockey’s beliefs and Performance Plan, combined with the vision to help England Hockey to achieve their plans.

The programme for these coaches will now centre on a clear and detailed induction with the first taking place at the boys’ four nations tournament at Exeter 5-7 April. CCC’s will then attend the men’s Champions Challenge in Antwerp/Boom, Belgium, 29 June-1July as well as the EuroHockey Nations Championships at Belle Vue, Manchester 21-23 August. They will also work closely with their respective region outlining a programme through to the Regional Tournaments in October.

For this first year the coaches will be contracted on a daily basis and receive payment commensurate with their coaching qualifications. The sum of the days which will include preparation and report writing will total 25 days in the first year rising to between 50-80 days in future years.

They will also have opportunity to observe the National Age Groups and Senior England programmes, gaining knowledge to help shape the youngsters of the future.  Each individual will be helped to progress along their individual coach pathway with the relevant coach education.

In consultation with the Regional Hockey Associations, England Hockey has also identified a group of apprentice coaches who will have access to a planned training programme led by England Hockey.
