Hong Kong Hockey staged a 24 hour hockey marathon on the weekend of 8th/9th January, raising over USD10,000.
15 indoor matches were played by 30 teams between noon Saturday ‘til noon Sunday. The money raised will be split equally between UNICEF, Red Cross and Oxfam.
Roger Nissim, HKHA President commented, “We had all of the local hockey community take part with mens, womens, mixed, schools and mini all joining in. The atmosphere was brilliant and for some of the local teams it was their very first time to play the indoor version of the game; they enjoyed it so much they had to be dragged off the pitch so the next game could start! I now anticipate a strong demand for an Indoor League this summer. The whole event was organized in less than a week and I am really proud of the way our sport has responded.”
