Two weeks ago, Bangladesh really put the word ‘world’ into the World League when it moved onto Round 2 of the newest international hockey competition. The 40th-placed team in the FIH World Ranking is the lowest-ranked team to make it through to the second round to date and incredibly enough had not played in an official international event for more than a decade before their triumph in Singapore. x 7 More

The Hockey World League is back in action this weekend as Singapore will host a four-team Round 1 tournament. Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore will play in the three-day Round Robin event.This weekend’s tournament will mark the international FIH debut for two of the four teams as Hong Kong (59th in the FIH World Ranking) and Thailand (49th) are the debutants.
