The match started in front of a large crowd, warmed up by the victory of the Indian women’s team in the previous match. It did not take for India to open their tally, Sandeep SINGH sinking in a low flick after less than 4 minutes of play. Italy held on for a while but Raghunath VOKKALIGA RAMACHANDRA increased the lead with another penalty-corner.

Italy certainly did not give up and Alessandro NANNI silenced the crowd for a while when he scored on penalty-corner to close the gap. This was however short lived, Sandeep SINGH scoring two additional penalty-corner goals in quick succession to complete his hat-trick.

After 4 penalty-corner goals, India finally scored a field goal in the 30th minute by Sunil SOWMARPET VITALACHARYA. Gurwinder Singh CHANDI added another one and India reached half-time with a commanding lead of 6-1.

Scoring was less prolific in second period, but the crowd was kept well entertained by non-stop action and a final win (8-1) for their colors.
