    Argentina FIH Champions Trophy - Day 7

    Argentina secured their fifth title at an FIH Champions Trophy with a 1-0 victory over Great Britain. It was the first time the Lionesses won the FIH flagship tournament on home soil. The Netherlands claimed the Bronze medal at the Argentina FIH Champions Trophy in Rosario. The Olympic Champions defeated Germany 5-4 in a very exciting match. Japan qualified for 2014’s Champions Trophy as they have beaten New Zealand 4-3 in extra-time. In the 7/8 classification match Korea defeated China 3-2 on penalties. More

  • Argentina win stunning Semi Final against Netherlands

    Argentina defeated the Netherlands 2-0 on penalties in an action packed Semi Final which contained a tremendous finish at the Argentina FIH Champions Trophy in Rosario. Noel Barrionuevo converted a penalty stroke 86 seconds before the end of regulation time to salvage extra-time for her team. Earlier in the day, Great Britain celebrated a deserved 2-0 win against Germany, putting them in their first ever Champions Trophy final.  x 25  x 2 More

  • Japan and New Zealand qualify for 5th place play off

    Day 5 of the Argentina FIH Champions Trophy started with a surprising win as 9th ranked Japan defeated Korea 4-3 in extra-time. The second match saw New Zealand beat China 3-2 also in extra-time. Japan and New Zealand will play off for the 5th place while Korea and China will do battle for 7th. On Saturday, the tournament Semi Finals will take place, with Germany taking on Great Britain before a titanic clash between 2011 champions The Netherlands and Argentina, the host nation and current world champions.    x 2 More

On Day 4 of action in Rosario the Olympic Champions wrestled down New Zealand 3-0 now facing the World Champions from Argentina who beat China 3-2.     Netherlands captain Maartje Paumen has been honoured by her fellow international hockey players by being named as the women’s FIH Player of the Year for 2011, with New Zealand’s Stacey Michelsen claiming the Young Player award. The winners were presented with their prizes at the Argentina FIH Champions Trophy in Rosario by FIH President Leandro Negre, with the ceremony taking place shortly after the two players went head-to-head in the crucial Quarter Final match between their respective nations.  x 5 More

    Day 3 in Rosario started with Netherlands taking a 4-1 win over Japan to claim top spot in Pool A. Despite defeating China 3-1, Great Britain finished in second place on goal difference. Germany surprised by winning Pool B after beating New Zealand 3-1 while Argentina had to settle for 2nd place in their pool after a 2-2 draw with Korea. The World Champions face China in Thursday’s Quarter Final, while Netherlands play New Zealand, Germany face Japan and Great Britain meet Korea.  x 2  x 4 More

    The Netherlands gave away a 2-0 lead against Great Britain who fought back thanks to Crista Cullen's double-strike. Both teams are now on four points in pool A of the Argentina FIH Champions Trophy held in Rosario. Day 2 got underway with China's 2-1 victory over Japan.
