    Argentina defeated the Netherlands 2-0 on penalties in an action packed Semi Final with a tremendous finish at the Argentina FIH Champions Trophy held in Rosario. Noel Barrionuevo converted a penalty stroke 86 seconds before the end of regulation time to salvage extra-time for her team. Before this thrilling encounter Great Britain have celebrated a deserved 2-0 win against Germany and now play off in a Champions Trophy final for the first time in history.  x 2  x 2 More

    Day 5 of the Argentina FIH Champions Trophy started with a surprising win as 9th ranked Japan defeated Korea 4-3 in extra-time. The second match saw New Zealand beat China 3-2 also in extra-time. Japan and New Zealand will play off for the 5th place while Korea and China will do battle for 7th. On Saturday, the tournament Semi Finals will take place, with Germany taking on Great Britain before a titanic clash between 2011 champions The Netherlands and Argentina, the host nation and current world champions.     Netherlands captain Maartje Paumen has been honoured by her fellow international hockey players by being named as the women’s FIH Player of the Year for 2011, with New Zealand’s Stacey Michelsen claiming the Young Player award.
