16,000 – seating capacity at the Riverbank Arena.  Over 600,000 tickets have been sold over 76 matches.

384 - players in the men’s and women’s competitions.  Only 96 players will take home an Olympic medal.

145 – number of minutes it took Netherlands to beat Spain for fifth place at the Mexico City 1968 Olympic Games.  Netherlands won 1-0 after various periods of extra time.

41 – years old, the age of Akemi KATO (JPN) – Olympic hockey’s oldest ever player.

24 – goals scored by India against the USA at the Los Angeles 1932 Olympic Games.  The 24-1 match score is Olympic hockey’s biggest victory.

5 – members of German’s KELLER family with an Olympic Hockey Medal – Erwin (silver, Berlin 1936); Carsten (gold, Munich 1972); Andreas (gold, Barcelona 1992), Natascha (gold, Athens 2004) and Florian (gold, Beijing 2008)

4 - Olympic medals won by both Teun DE NOOIJER (NED) (silver, London 2012) and Luciana AYMAR (silver, London 2012) equalling the record held by Indian players Leslie CLAUDIUS and Udham SINGH

3 - players making a record-equalling fifth Olympic hockey appearance: Natascha KELLER (GER), Teun DE NOOIJER (NED) and Pol AMAT (ESP).

2 – times South Africa’s  men’s and women’s teams qualified for London 2012.  The teams original earned their spots as Africa Cup champions, but were forced to qualify again through the FIH’s official qualifying tournament after the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee insisted on additional qualifying criteria.
