Prince Albert pays royal visit to the Riverbank

Following Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge’s visit to the hockey, there was more royalty on hand to take in the Riverbank Arena experience yesterday as Prince Albert II of Monaco watched Belgium's 3-0 win over India.

Here’s what he had to say about his experiences with the sport: "I've been going to watch hockey since I became an IOC member in 1986 and have been to see hockey at every Games since then.

“I saw it (hockey at the Riverbank Arena) on television and I said I wanted to see it. Unfortunately, it's a temporary venue, but it's a great venue. It has a great layout and the atmosphere too is great. I will try to come back for the finals, but we'll see how that works out with traffic and everything else."

"This is my 15th sport I think I've been to see, I try to go to a lot of them. I was at triathlon earlier today and that was a great competition too. I think we've had some great events in swimming.

“It was incredible to see Michael Phelps win all his medals. There were also some great swims by some South Africans too. Then there was also a great atmosphere at the Olympic stadium too - not only 'super Saturday' but also on Sunday night. To see Usain Bolt win the 100m final was one of the highlights of the Games so far."
